Parrots
Male Musk Lorikeet - Ozzie
Hello again,
My musk lorikeet ignores solid foods such as fruits, vegetables and flowers. When I present them to him he merely licks them once and goes back to feeding on his wet mix (Passwells). I have also never seen him eat his dry mix. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is? I have tried grapes, pears, apples, spinach, peas, eucalyptus flowers, lilly pilly flowers, dandelions and roses.
Thanks, Joseph

Lorries are nectar feeders. They should be Aussie native flowers like bottlebrush, melaleuca, acacia, eucalypts etc. They will love the flowers and the nectar on them. Wet or dry mix is a very good staple. I wouldn't be concerned about his preference for wet or dry mix as it really doesn't matter. You may offer soft fruit which the bird may nibble from time to time but it isn't their natural diet so don't try to force the issue.
