My sidekick turns 9 today so we celebrated with our first ever birdie bread! Happy hatchday Parky D!

Story time: we don’t actually know his hatch day, neither did his previous owners. Only knew he was “about 6” when I got him, which put approximate hatch year at 2009.

I wanted a marker date to keep track, and since I got him June/July timeframe, I set his birthday to 6/26. The number 626 follows me everywhere, and has done so for 10 years at least. If you believe online (!!) this number is the unviverse telling you everything will be ok, which is cool. So 6/26 seemed pretty darn cool for Parker - everything will be ok for him from now on.

So, hatch day is celebrated as 6/26/2009. Though he’s been with us for a few years this is the first time we’ve celebrated. Mainly because the day, being made up, is easily overlooked. So we’ve been forgetting. First time we’ve remembered:)

Happy Belated Hatchday, Parker!

626 sounds like a great birthday designation to me! And downright prophetic, as his life has taken a turn for the better under your care.

At work right now, but looking forward to seeing those videos later. Definitely looks like he's enjoying his hatchday treats.

Happy (belated) 'bird'day to Parker! Seems he enjoyed his birdie bread:) Like that his 'birthday' has such a special meaning!

P.S. We did the same thing with Kiwi, just rounded off "around 10 y/o" to an even 10, count the day we got him as his 'birthday' and have simply counted up from there.

Aw you guys have warmed this hardened heart:) he had a great birthday! He’s STILLinching on his birdie bread. I’m suddenly feeling inspire with his diet - We both need a break from the messy frozen chop. Birdie bread keeps him busy for hours and you can throw whatever veg and fruit you want!! And it can keep pretty well :)

Birdie bread! Jiffy corn bread mix, randomly throw on some dried papaya bits, flax/chia seed mix, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, and coconut flakes.

Yeah I’m sure this is a common practice. It bothers me that something so...unique and personal tot he bird is lost along its life path. This just gives at least some illusion of...what would you call it, continuity in love?
