2 GCC here. JoJo is the head bob king. Bob = hello, play?, yes, no, want, taste, wanna fight? I have to use close observation of additional body language and the situational context. For example, “I want a taste” is usually when I’m snacking at the computer and JoJo flies and perches on my screen. She then starts slowly bobbing while on tiptoes with big wide eyes. There are no ruffled feathers and her head is smooth. “Wanna Fight?” is still a head bob but this one has the legs squared (like the punk is ready to take me on), the head has a sharp crest and the throat is ridiculously ruffled. The eye is “hard” and the head is sometimes tilted so the little **** really looks like a punk. Usually (by no means always) I already know I’m involved in a situation that is going to piss her off. Sometimes she will fly to my screen and try to pick a fight for reasons unknown.
Betty on the other hand has never bobbed her head. But she has never tried to pick a fight and just wants to get along with everyone. It’s like JoJo is a poster child for the dark side of GCC and Betty the poster child for all that is wonderful about GCC. Same breeder, same age, both with me since babes. But I digress, that has nothing to do with bobbing, I think it’s just how that bird “accents” it’s communication. I find it quite endearing.
