Hey everyone :)

My name is Zoe and today I brought home the newest addition to my small zoo - an Indian Ringneck.

I saw these a few weeks ago and didsome research about them etc and decided I wanted one - I got the cage and everything last week and impatiently waited until today to buy him (I say 'he' but I actually don't know!)

I have always wanted a bird but my mum wasn't keen but now I have my own place I can get what I like!!

Anyways, just thought I would say hi, looking forward to talking to other parrot owners.

I am also looking for ideas on how to keep my bird entertained :)

Thanks

Zoe :green2:

Welcome Zoe. It's great when you move out and don't have to ask permission ;) Looking forward to sharing your journey

Hello there, Zoe! Pleased to meet you and your bird.

I'm glad you have the opportunity of owning a parrot now, it's such a hoot! Enjoy your bird!

Thanks for you replies! :)

I was told by the pet store that they are not sure of his age but he is 'from last year's stock' - so he is at least 6 months old.

Will this make it difficult for me to tame him etc?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place

Thanks

Not difficult, but it's going to take time. Remember tame is not the same as domesticated and parrots are not domesticated.

Let him get used to you and trust you. Food is often a good way to gain their trust. Talk to him so he gets used to your voice and presence. And there are some birds who never like to be touched but still love you and want to be with you - like my Alexandrine.

Most of all, be patient. It takes a lot of time.
