We watched a great program on PBS "Nature" last night on Hummingbirds. They are even more amazing than parrots, if that's possible. Their resting heart rate is 600 bpm, and they live up to 12 years. Some of them nest close to a hawk's nest. The hawk can't be bothered with them, and protects them from other birds. They also eat insects.
We found this little guy on the ground last year, and took him to a local rescue.
It was hard for me to get a close-up. He seemed unafraid.
