Pampa Blue Crown Conure lost 6/18/2019 ☹️
Two weeks ago my BCC Pampa flew away. It is totally my fault, I made every mistake, but now I know. The perch in her outdoor cage was in a new awkward position so when I was bringing her in I couldn’t get a hold of her and she flew out. This has happened before and she always just landed on my shoulder. This time she left the yard. I found her in a tree. Mistake, DO NOT try to get your very tame bonded bird from the tree. Plant yourself under the tree with food and water and wait hours or days until they figure out how to climb down to you. Instead I startle Pampa and she flies to a higher tree. I think I am so smart and my bird is so smart because she knows recall. It sort of worked. She came to me when called circling high over my head until she got tired and landed in another tree. Birds used of flying down from 10 or 20 feet DO NOT know how to descend from the top of a very tall tree. Stupidly I repeat this every time she lands somewhere until she flies to a redwood tree bordering a forest. I live in a rural are. She then was harassed by crows and the last time I saw her it was evening and at least 5 crows were chasing her into the forest. It’s a patch of forest, in a gully with a creek surrounded by homes so I spent several hours every morning at sunrise calling for her. I found away to hike into the forest. We brought out another BCC to call for her. I hung fliers, visited vet offices and pet stores posted her online everywhere to know avail. Please if you ever loose a bird instantly go looking and when you find sit down, take a breath and research what to do before doing anything. I would have had her home safe and sound within 24 hours had I done that. I am surprised at how much I miss her. I am devastated.
