Having owned Cockatiels and bred them in captivity it was with a great deal of expectation that I kept my eyes peeled as I headed down a country road in Queensland. Then there they were! flying effortlessly over a wheatfield! later perched beside a pond waiting until some big Emus left before they could come down to drink. They are ssssssoooooooooooo fast! I couldnt believe their bullet like graceful flight. Its so wild to be outside in australian sunshine and hear that unmistakeable wheeahhh wheeaaa whistle of the tiels drifting down to your ears. Your first thought is... oh my someones poor cockatiel has escaped... No wait a minute these are wild birds!
