Today, for the first time ever I was shown how to use the small 16” electric chainsaw, and permitted to prance around the house.totally unsupervised and cut down all the small annoying trees. It was so much fun and so scary at the same time. A chainsaw is the most dangerous thing I came near today next to the parrots.
I should probably say that there are many many large trees near the house, and removing the smaller ones is good for the overall health of the woods. The soil cover near the house is very thin, with rock not far below the surface, and if there is a drought the large trees need to get all the water. There is plenty of vegetation and ground cover to protect the soil. I will just drag the cut trees off into the forest to make cover for birds and small critters and composted back into the ground.
