Two Green Cheek Conures, female and male
I have two new adult Jenday's that I brought home today. They are in a small cage till their new larger cage gets here on Saturday. Not sure about the sex but will have DNA tests done soon. My question is when should I let them out of their cage. I have another cage with 2 GCC in it. Also when I let them out should I have the door open on the GC's cage. Help would be appreciated.

I would wait awhile before letting them out. If you have to chase them and catch them to get them back into the cage, that is a big trust busting move. Wait until they are at least taking treats through the cage bars and you have some kind of bond with them.

They are far from tamed, if I put my hand in the cage to add say apples they will bite me. They only eat seed, when I put pellets in their food cup one of them with his beak emptied the cup of the pellets. It's been about 18-20 hrs and they haven't pooped yet

I have a sun & jenday. I had my jenday for over 10 years before I added my sun. I did let them out together right away. They did bicker, and lunge at each other. This took some time to settle down. Iā€™d say a few months. My sun surprisingly stepped up already (he did this the first day I brought him home). He enjoys sitting on my shoulder. His previous owner must of handled him quite a bit. He just popped out of his cage immediately. He begs to come out first thing in the morning, and continues to do so all day long. Maybe I just got lucky?

If you do choose to let them out (without seeing how your conures are itā€™s hard to make a suggestion), Iā€™d try to only let one out at a time for a more controlled environment. I use sun flower seeds as a high reward for my conures to bribe them. I feed them pellets so a sunflower seed truly is a delicious treat for my conures. Have treats ready when you let them out especially at first. I do agree with the above poster. When I moved 2 years ago to my new house. My Jenday wouldnā€™t come out of her cage at my old house so we could get her cage in the moving truck. I had to physically intervene by putting on gloves and removing her from her cage. She didnā€™t come out of her cage at the new house for days. She was so scared of me. So be very very careful when you let them out. If you truly do have to physically intervene to get them back in their cage. If you donā€™t already have a bond with them they may not be forgiving.

I have them but a day and the breeder never socialised with them so no wonder why they are scared and aggressive. They won't take pellet spray thru the cage so it's going to take some time before they learn to trust me. I think if I let them out now they won't go back into their cage and trying to catch them would really make things worse from what I'm told, See above. The aggressive one is always chirping loud but at night he is quiet TG. One of my GCC flew onto the top of their cage and the one went after it. I see I'm gonna have some job on my hands. I named them Alexander and Caesar after the two conquers..... Like I said the breeder seams to think they are M and F but not thru a DNA test so I will do that myself.

So far I have them a month, they definitely are starting to get used to me, they have quieted down a lot. I will take my time with them, they're are starting to forage for some food on the bottom of their cage. It's exciting to watch them adapt to their new surroundings. My 2 GCC sit on top of the jenday's cage. Sometimes a Jenday might get a bit upset but they quiet down. Now to get them to eat their veggies would be a giant step for mankind....

Indeed it will be a giant step for mankind. My jenday screams at fresh food like itā€™s going to grow legs, and chase her. Sheā€™s not a fan of new things in her cage. I can get her to try some new things if sheā€™s on my kitchen counter. I better not mess with her cage though šŸ˜‚
