KITTY: Pineapple Green Cheek Conure (2 year old)
BODE: Nanday Conure (5 years old)
KIWI & BLUE: English Budgerigars (RIP after 10 years)
So my new bird ironically named "Kitty" has begun her life in our family. Yesterday, against our will she saw our other bird and hopped down and walked right up to him! He was so started he fell over on his face and began flapping to get away (He is a loner ). She did not take the hint, and we had to come and get her. He was fine with her being around, but he did not want to snuggle her by any means!
She loves her new food, and she has figured out her cage. I saw her hop in her happy hut which is just the cutest thing. She has begun to sound alarm when I walk away and she cannot see me, so I wait until she is quiet to come back. She has a little noise she makes in the morning too, but it is not the same alarm as when I walk away.
She has taken to sitting on the top of my lap top facing me which is pretty funny. She licks the screen from time to time
I flipped her on her back really quickly this morning - she wasn't too fond of it because she doesn't trust me/know me yet, but I'm showing her I'm safe slowly. She let me pet her and scratch her neck and face without too much fuss or fear as well. I hope we can snuggle soon
She took a bath in her oversized bowl on her playtop yesterday which was very funny. She is a serious bather fully submerging her body and head and blowing water out everywhere! I suppose this is good because she is molting now.
I will attach the picture of her on my lap top in case you didn't see it. In the picture you can see the blemish on her beak from when she was younger. She tried to make friends with an older, grouchier bird who grabbed her beak with his beak and cracked it a little. It will grow out eventually, and she is okay, but it hasn't dampened her spirits as far as making friends! She is still a bird's bird.
She has widely ignored her toys and everything that isn't a food product (WILL I EVER HAVE A BIRD THAT LIKES TOYS!?) Overall she seems like a very nice bird like I was told, and I can't wait until she trusts me and loves me
Picture of cage attached as well.
