Skye has made some progress. He’s not leaving his cage, but he is trying to say pretty bird. I thought it was wishful thinking but then my husband just said he thought Skye said it this morning, and asked if I had heard it yet. So YAY SKYE! I was in there giving him his afternoon veggies and thought I heard “pretty bird” or close to it mixed in with his normal chit chat of happy noises. My daughter has play rehearsal 3 days a week now because SHE GOT THE LEAD ROLE in her next play. Totally a proud Momma right now. But that also means afternoon bird duty is all on me for those 3 days. That’s fine, theatre is her “thing” so I’m happy to pick up the slack when she can’t.
Sunny broke a tail feather about 1/2 way down yesterday. He landed on a picture frame and the 1 feather bent a bit to far. I called the vet. They said leave it be, he will probably pluck it on his own, and it’s not bloody or bleeding so just keep an eye on it.
Blue bird (no name yet) is settled in nicely and is super crazy. Constantly upside down on the top of the cage, playing with toys, just loving life. Not loving people, but loving life. Pretty sure it’s a she, which will come with a whole new set of potential issues.
Stormy is going back to the vet tomorrow. He was supposed to go today but my son broke his finger on Sunday, so I had to take him to the orthopedic today. Hopefully he does NOT need surgery, but it’s on the table until tomorrow when the x rays come back. Also, fingers crossed tomorrow is the last time I have to give Stormy medicine. He HATES it, and knows when it’s time for his dose. Of coarse it would be MY bird that needs it. The good news is that Stormy will still get onto fingers anytime (except for at 6AM & 6PM which is when he gets his medicine) He actually jumps to get to me. No treat needed, he just wants the attention. I can’t try to touch him yet other than step up, but he will work his way up my arm and gently nibble my hairline.
So that is where we all are. I’m losing my mind, but the birds are doing well overall.
