Meet Kira! Our African Grey foster! Just got her.

She looks so skinny; how much does she weigh?

The Ghana, or West African Grey is smaller and darker than the CAG, about 10 inches from beak to tail, and 350-400 gm.

The CAG is about 12 inches long, and 450-500 gm. The male has a flatter head and usually darker than the female.

Well drats I can't view the pics! :( Poor little one is probably very scared and stressed, hence the plucking. Maybe cover 1/4-1/2 of her cage to see if this will help her feel more secure. Takes thing slow. Greys are so sensitive. Thanks for fostering her. I also foster for area rescues.

I'm not an expert, I'm not sure what type of grey she is at this point. She is seriously so small. I will take another picture and put something up to her so you can see. And yes, I feel she might be thin too. She was eating zupreem fruit blend. I put her in her cage and left the door open and sat near, and climbed out and extended her foot towards me to step up. She is scared though for sure. Right now she is half covered and hopefully sleeping in our bedroom away from the other girls.

Aww grey! I wonder why you can't view the pictures. I wish I knew another way to show you! And thank you for fostering as well, it's so rewarding, isn't it?

I just tried to copy the first pic of Kira, and couldn't do it. Looks to be a secure site, which may lock some out. It's really not that tough to start your own album on this site, by going to USER CP and fiddling around.

New album of Kira in my profile!

Great! Now to put a pic on a post:
Right click on pic.
Copy Image Location
Go to post and hit the symbol that says Insert Image. Do ctrl V.

I keep a separate window open on my album to make it easier to go between album and post.

Got it! Thanks for the help! :D

I got your email with pics. She is adorable! She is tiny and the more I look she appears very light in weight. Harrison's High Potency will help with calorie intake. Yummy birdie bread is usually loved too. Offer chamomile tea to help calm her. She is very nervous being in a new home.

I bet you will be putting some meat on her bones real soon. You are an angel sent to take care of her. Good luck with her she is so very small and skinny. She is very sweet looking as well.

Oh yeah, we filled up her bowl with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as Harrison's pellets this morning. We also gave her 2 nutrition recovery nuggets from that brand that starts with an "L" (sorry, I'm at work and don't have the package nearby). I hope to get her to a healthy weight. She is going to get a full exam Saturday. I have a feeling she is sick =/

Be optimistic i'm sure after a few months in a loving and caring home like yours she will be nice and healthy:)I've heard nutriberries are pretty good for putting on weight.

Oh I do have two types of nutriberries at home, I'll offer them to her for sure! By the way, she threw the green beans right out of her dish. I always think it's funny when birds do that.

It's hilarious!:p. Some foods my grey likes cut differently.Broccoli whole pieces apples along with most fruits in thick slices peas whole but carrots is the tricky one. Those are her absolute FAVORITE but it seems like she changes the way she wants them cut each week! She likes them in tiny bits almost to a mash.Just play around and see what she likes.:)
