- Beau 20 year old male Green Cheek || Jimmy Bullet 17 year old female white cap pionus parrot
Beau my green cheek has been struggling for about 6 months now with GI issues. Part of it seems to be food allergies. I took him off corn, peanut and soy, and try to keep the preservatives and synthetic vitamins to a minimum. So basically he can't have any of the big name pellets.
He's a good eater. Problem is, I can't cook and I'm overwhelmed. I am awful at preparing food and right now I don't even have a freezer. He gets TOPs Pellets which he eats but I don't think he eats enough to be full (he cries for different/more food a lot lately). He gets 1-3 fresh foods a day and carrot juice, chia seeds and occasionally flax seeds. I used to give him sprouts, but just starting to get back into that.
What else can I give him that has carbs and is healthy? How can I make sure he's getting the nutrients he needs? Need moderately easy ideas.
I have a hot plate to cook simple things, but I honestly can't cook! I don't know how things are supposed to be, what is safe, esp when it comes to things like beans.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
