He was on his play gym and fell to the floor. When i picked him up he had lost one of his new flight feathers. He has one on each wing, so they were pretty vulnerable. Now he keeps lifting and twitching that wing. It looks like it is hurting him. There is no blood that i can tell. Should i take him to the vet or wait to see if hes okay?

He seems to be okay but still sensitive. He wants to stay with me on my shoulder but wont let me look at it and definitely wont let me touch it. It isnt bleeding though so i will keep an eye on it and if anything changes or if hes still in pain tomorrow i will consider going to the vet. Hopefully he is okay. My poor boy... :(

I'm not sure I can't find the feather... and he still won't let me near it. But I'm sure he's fine. I'm just paranoid and over protective. This bird IS my best friend.

How's Pumkin today? I'm sure he'll be fine, and I fully understand why you would worry, especially if he held his wing up after he fell.

My Niko had 2 accidents over the past 3 days, where he fell, and there was blood splatter everywhere. Each time he busted open a newly emerging flight feather. Luckily he throws pity parties after he hurts himself, and he lets me baby him thoroughly and willingly. I was able to stop the bleeding each time with a cold, damp compress within under a minute. Now fingers crossed those flight feathers will have a chance to fully regrow before he crashes yet again. :32:

He's doing a lot better I think. He has stopped favoring and preening that wing anyway. So hopefully it's not hurting him anymore.

I'm so glad there was no blood. I still need to look into an emergency kit for him in case he breaks a feather like that. I haven't even researched it like I should. I'll be doing that in the next few days.
