Question/Answer Training

I'm slowly teaching Kazi to answer questions I ask like, "What sound does a kitty make?" by teaching him both the answer and the concept at the same time, but it's slow compared to other tricks we've learned and we're struggling on some things. I'm wondering if teaching him the answer first and then pairing it with the question would be better.

Can anyone with some experience or knowledge in this arena offer up any advice?
