Hi guys! I am new to the forums and I have a 6 month old baby sun conure named "Baby."
Baby is currently in his/her first molt cycle and only about 40% of the new feathers coming in are pure yellow/orange. The rest of the new feathers are still green with a tint of yellow on the tips of those feathers.
I have been told that sun conures should be mostly yellow by 8 months, however, with Baby I am pretty sure this won't happen by then. I was really excited to finally be seeing Baby get her adult feathers but with this occurrence I have been a bit disappointed that he/she might be staying green for another 6 months or so until the 2nd molt cycle hits.
My question is that I want to know whether it is normal for a 6 month old conure beginning his/her first molt to still be growing in mostly green feathers with a slight yellow tip in contrast to pure yellow/orange feathers on the body?
