Alexandrine male
ive noticed recently that my 8 month Alexandrine beak has grown quite a bit. the problem is, he is always rubbing it on everything and there seems to be lines and cracks and on the side little pieces seem to be falling off. should i be worried? or is this just part of him growing up.

alexandrines : Oxy, Bruno, prince (was princess)
from my understanding its normal. their beaks are made up of layers like our nails, and as they groom them their beaks they thin out the layers and they flake off. with the rubbing of the beak you will find ge is just cleaning/ manicuring it.... nothing to be worried about.

My Alex is so cute when she is doing this. She loves to scuff it up on her rough perches and then polish is on our clothing. I am sure she enjoys cleaning her beak on us. :)

Our boy, Ringo, does this also - my husband is convinced he's trying to sharpen it... lol
