Today Venus has been out of her cage, playing on both Buddy's and her play tops, shredding toys, toilet paper rolls, throwing spoons, ringing bells, watching outside the window, and bathing, the typical things. Husband and I were both off and we had gone outside to unload the car and the neighbors started a chat. I didn't realize how long we had been outside, about an hour. We went back inside and Buddy is saying Hello from his cage, Venus isn't in her cage, on her cage, under or around her cage, the door is standing wide open.
I start calling Venus, questioning myself if she knows her name. I slowly start looking around her cage, walking, looking at obvious places, next round, under things, like under the bed, under the cage again, behind dressers, entertainment unit, chairs. Nothing still, third round a little frantic, inside cabinets, leaving the doors open so I know I looked there, bathrooms, toilets, tubs, tighter spots, nothing. Fourth round, now I'm looking at the dogs who are all laying around napping and looking at me like I'm annoying them, I'm looking for bird poo, feathers, any clue not close to the cages, nothing. Husband is looking at me worried, me I'm trying to think if I were a bird where would I go. Back in the bedroom I go looking and calling again when from the living room Husband says, "Here she is." She comes strutting from under the love seat looking at us like "what?". I picked her up, ran my hands over her, not a feather out of place, none worried for the wear. Husband and I looked at Canelo again.
So now that I know she's ventured from her cage showing more of her curious nature, she can't be as free as before. We will also learn how to stay put, Canelo is great at staying put, maybe he can teach her, lol. She is now velcroed to my shoulder napping.
