Terry, THAT exact thing you mention is one of the things I've always loved about the coloration in Blue Headed Pi. The gold wings together with the blue and green is exquisite. I've noticed though, that some who appear to be adult (because of the blue head), have a solid green body. Maybe geographical differences? All Pi's have gorgeous colors in my opinion but BH is the most popular I think because of the bright color. So, obviously... I think he's gorgeous Terry!
Thank you! I think he is gorgeous as well He was born in 2012 is all I know for sure. The woman we got him from had some paperwork on him, but it had conflicting hatch dates.
My hubby was the one who really wanted a Pi, and now I can't imagine why I never thought of having one.
Talli holds a special place in my heart as he is just such a wonderful guy
Does Tali sort of remind you of an Amazon? Raven is Amazon-like. As a close relative, they puff out that musty smell at times, have no preen gland, can be standoffish to being touched, when mature they strut and display during hormonal flares, all like they say Amazons do. Not nearly as noisy as a zon though
Aren't Pi's extra large brown eyes the cutest thing ever?
@pinkbirdy, see my post a few above they are a genetically close relative of Amazons. Not as outgoing though in general. The Amazon's introverted cousin haha.
I do wonder how my Raven and Terry's Tali differ in personality.
@Pinkbirdy:
Talli thinks he is a lot bigger than he is...he is not afraid of anything at all, and will go to almost anyone. He hardly ever bites and gives ample and easy to read warnings before he does. He eats anything and everything, and plays so well by himself
He is loud first thing in the morning for 10 or 15 minutes, then usually quiet the rest of the day. He loves to cuddle while sitting on my shoulder or in my lap.
I had never been around a Pi before Talli, and cannot ever imagine my life without one now
Guess we could all say that about our fids, huh!
@RavensGryf - is Raven anything like that?
Terry, Raven is stubborn! He only wants to do things on HIS time and when he wants! Otherwise he makes that Pionus growly sort of complaining noise and threatens a bite (he doesn't usually do it super hard though). His door is open when we are home, yet he often likes to stay in his cage and play with his toys in there or eat. Raven is a quiet bird. He usually only makes a loud yell when you "accidentally" touch him where he doesn't like to be touched. He's a good eater, and while there are some foods he doesn't like, he's not nearly as picky as some I've experienced. He's fairly easy going about new people but he doesn't open up like an outgoing species.
If Raven was a person, he'd be a strong minded opinionated man who is on the introverted quiet side. A homebody who likes to stay in and tinker with his 'toys', who can be sweet if he loves you, though a bit grumpy LOL
LOL@Raven!
I think that if Talli was a person, he would be the class clown, hanging upside down from chandeliers and falling on his head. But as long as everyone laughed, that would be fine with him
