Thin Feathers

I am in contact with a B&G Macaw (sister's) with thin feathers on the chest. It looks more like the down isn't there but the colored feathers are.......what and why would that be?
 
It could either be plucking or some odd medical/birth defect.


Has the bird been seen by an avian vet?

No vet yet, but it doesn't seem to be plucking. There's just a thin layer of colored feathers without much down or fluffiness......but full feathered otherwise. Wondering if it's a defiency in something, genetic or disease..... I don't see any behavior that would lead to thinking illness or injury. Has tons of energy.
 
It may be something, or it may be nothing. Can you share a photo?

It's difficult to get a good picture. Shows color but not the thinness....

You're right! As per the picture, the B&G appears healthy!


I can't see that anything needs to be done.

He doesn't act like anythings wrong....so I'm assuming it's just the way he is :)
