I was working on finding just the right stick for my grandkids to use to begin training Lenny, their new tiel. Most of what I found was too big, too lond, too much.

I've had the same problem with Skittles, our BF Amazon. Skittles is scared of the stick.

Yesterday, I was enjoying my ususal Thursday lunch at 'Happy Sushi' in Springfield, Illinois (best sushi I've ever had!) and I had an epiphany ...

CHOP STICKS!

So I asked Hiro if he would sell me some ... AND HE SAID NO! (how rude!)

He gave me a handful. The nice part of chopsticks, if they get fouled you can pitch them, a set gives you two and for the smaller birds you can even do "step up" drills on them. And, I can get new ones every time I get take out, LOL.

Problem solved!

A clean chopstick is what I use for touch training (or, as we call it, point training) too!

I use a dog clicker stick. It is nice due to hiding the clicker in the hand.

Chop sticks are really popular for touch training, a lot of people use those :D

I like to use wooden skewers since there's always a big bag in the kitchen. About 8" long and thinner than chop sticks.

There are wooden sticks that can be used for BBQ matters, use them!
Or use a straw, it should work.
