Ozzie - alexandrine parakeet
It has been a while since I started harness training Ozzie. Today, for the first time, I got Ozzie to wear the aviator harness! He has been doing really good, didn't bite or try to get away at all! I did not put the harness on fully, and I am not planning to take him out within a week. But I guess it won't be long until I can take Ozzie out for walks! :)

After I took the harness off, he got a whole almond as reward and lots of hugs! Right now he is hanging upside down on his stand playing with toys :D

Thats so awesome, Mango wont even let me get near him with a harness. Good job for sticking to it, its a lot of work!

Thank you :) Yes, its a lot of hard work.

When Ozzie first saw the harness, he was a bit unsure and won't get close to it. So I just put the harness near his cage for a week, which was quite boring, lol :D Lucky for me, it didn't take long until Ozzie would touch the harness.

But don't up! It will take a while until your parrot will get used to the harness. I have heard that it took some onwer 1 year until their parrot would wear the harness!

Mango is a year in March, we just got him in October. I think the previous owner may have forced a harness on him. He belonged to a little girl who lost interest (stupid parents, but thats another story). Anyways, we got him a little flight suit (adorable) but he screams and panics if he sees it. We have had it for a couple of months but he is still scared. I think Im going to try the aviator harness instead and see if he will be better with it. He is genuinely terrified of his flight suit, and he has never even touched it :(

Oh, thats bad :(

Try to put the flight suit very far away from him, like 5 meters. And then slowly to move it closer and closer. I start of putting the aviator harness about 10 meters away from Ozzie at the very start. And gave him treats every time I moved it closer.
And do you know his fav colour? I know this sounds weird but Mango might be scared of the colour of the flight suit. Try getting a harness that is the same colour of his feathers, it might help.
