Cleo & Sunny [Sun Conure Pair]
Opy [Cinnamon Pied Cockatiel]
Ella [RIP - Pearl Cockatiel]
So I pulled my final 2 chicks from the nest just a few days ago and noticed immediately that my youngest chick looked a little strange. His beak is barely curved outwards at the end. Parents were always given fresh seed, berries, eggs, & other available fruit. Cuttlebone was consumed by the female before she laid eggs.
My chick is about 3-4 weeks old. I have only handfed him these last few days. All other chicks born have perfectly shaped beaks. Does anyone have any experience with chicks like this? Is it possible he will "outgrow" this as he is so young? Other than the beak issue, he seems perfectly happy & healthy!
I've read that it is possible that the curved beak can be caused by the handfeeder, but I KNOW that he came from the nest this way. I was taught by an experienced handfeeder & have raised Cockatiels, Sun Conure, and other Green Cheeks. Is there a different method or tool that could help with this chick?
Hatch date of April 8th.
