Black Widow Bite!!

When it rains....it pours!!!

Was doing some gardening a little while ago, entered my shed to get some tools and felt a little but sharp prick in my left pinky finger. Of ALL the spiders, it had to be a Black Widow.

The thing is now nowhere to be found because I flung it off my finger.

This happened 30 minutes ago, and my finger is truly THROBBING. I'm currently alternating hot and ice cold compresses, but if I start getting muscle spasms and stomach cramps, I'll be off to the ER. This truly sucks! Anything else going to go wrong?

OMG!!!!!! Go to ER quick!!!!!!!!!! I was bitten by a baby one years ago and that was bad enough....When you get better, set a bomb off in your tool shed!!!! I'm about to set one off in mine as the shed I built is full of spiders already.....I hope everything is ok!!!!

I'm keeping a VERY close eye on it right now.

I just took this pic....for comparison (taken in natural light, NO flash)

It's getting a bit bubbly where the fangs penetrated. Finger hurts a LOT. I took some Motrin.

NO muscle spasms yet, and NO stomach cramps.

Called Alex (hubby), who promptly told me I was "full of it", that we don't have Black Widows here. Ya...ok.....

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
I'm not sure I'd wait for medical attention.

Yeah, maybe you should just get it checked so you know you don't have to worry. My mom had a brown recluse bite and became extremely ill from it.

She better be in the ER right now!!!! She knows I'll slap her silly if she don't....Black widow bite is not something you take lightly. When I found one on my front porch and one on my back porch, I eliminated them quick since it give me reminder of what happened when I was a teenager just working out in the garden and I got bit on my toe by a young one. Where I lived before was near wooded area and we had a huge lot. There was a ton of them around as I found a male in the garage one day. And they were all over the brick boarders surrounding the garden. Later on we had to spray all the boarders after I was bit....Cause you'll find them about every few steps you take along the boarders. I even caught a huge female for my Biology Honors class, my teacher liked me bring that stuffs in....lol

Wendy if you saw the red dot on her or are sure it was a widow, you need to go to the ER!

Since we haven't heard from her, I am hopeful she went to the ER!

Euuurrrghhh! Don't be mucking around with this, Wendy! Not all venoms act instantaneously and you need to get it seen by a professional *before* damage gets done. Sending prayers and healing thoughts - let us know *as soon* as you can that you're feeling better! Hugs!

Wendy, I am thinking that you are in the ER right now. If we are all wrong in assuming this then please, please go. This is something that you should take seriously!
