5 month old GCC

Hello,
I am new to this forum and I am a brand new mom of a GCC! This is my first exotic bird and I just had a bunch of questions that anybody can feel free to answer. Her name is pancake and we got her from a pet store and I just don’t know where to start. She’s very shy and won’t come to us when we try to get her to do that, she kind of moves away from us. I’m just looking for any tips and tricks to help us bond and I was also wondering when and if she will start talking and how I go about training her to do that. We have her in a good spot with a curtain and a blanket to cover up with at night. Her cage has plenty of space and we got her some good food so I guess anything that anyone has to say suggest, and any feedback that anyone has would be so good! I hope to hear from some of you soon!

I highly recommend researching bird body language and watching some YouTube videos to learn how to communicate and understand your new bird.

You can’t really train a parrot to talk, but many do pick up words hear often over time. It’s up to the bird if they want to try talking or not! Time will tell. And you may find she or he repeats things you don’t want them saying!
