It's the 8th day since Kumar's vet visit where he was injured by the techs (x-ray room). I took 5 days off work, and held this bird on my chest during waking hours, keeping him in my (dimmed) bedroom, where we slept. I just shut my phone off and babied him. When I went back to work Thursday, I just took own client and went home. His appetite is back to normal. He plays. But he still can't fly, and I'm absolutely furious. The vet office called today and left a message, wanting to check in and see how he's doing. I didn't call back because I was afraid I would fly off the handle. I'm calling tomorrow and asking to speak with the owner (and chief vet), or have him call me. He's frustrated, I'm frustrated, and my hands are covered with the worst bites I've had since I've got him. He's very clingy, and extremely nippy. He can go a little longer if he tries to fly, and he lands somewhat normally, but he still can't fly. He mostly doesn't try, but he might give it a shot once a day. He's actually embarrassed to be around my budgies. He was very bluffy (yet friendly) with them, and enjoyed taking off with them in a flock-flight from some imagined danger (or a bird outside). When they come around, he hides. They on the other hand, are super nice to him. They used to take pleasure in occaisionally dive-bombing him. Gadget would sometimes knock him right off my shoulder. They don't do that anymore, because they seem to know he's ***ked up. He is better, but he's not flying, and it's been 8 days :(

I cannot believe Kumar is still suffering from their negligence!! What on earth did they do to him?
I am so sorry for you both, and I hope you can get some answers tomorrow.

Thank you for the update [ive been wondering about him]. I look at my greencheek [and hes the the smallest of my bunch] Way to small to have been through all that ![touching you spent all that time off with him].

I've been wondering as well, has it really been 8 days already??

if they want to take more x-rays what r u going to do?

if there is damage done to his wing due to their neglectful way of handling him, I'm hoping they offer to pay for any future vet bills, although I'm not so sure I'd want them handling my bird after what has happened.
I feel for you Chris, not a nice thing to deal with.....and poor Kumar, still in pain probably.

Chris that's so heartbreaking to hear. It made my adrenaline rise a bit too when reading that. They called and asked how he's doing as if they have no idea. It's such an outrage. I hope the vet who owns the place says the "right" things and takes responsibility! I'm sorry that Kumar was so traumatized that he is even biting YOU. Aww, your Budgies are being nice to Kumar I'm so glad. They know their fellow flock member is down :( Take care. I'll be waiting for the update here.

Oh, those %&¤€ fools!! Poor Kumar must have been through such an ordeal to still be so traumatised! :( I hope he feels better very soon. ((Hugs)) to you both.

Thanks guys! Wow I posted that last nite and dropped off to sleep lol! Anyway, I called the vets office today, requested the Giardia results mailed to me (negative). The girl at the desk was asking how Kumar was in her fake syrup voice, and I told her to have the owner (and chief vet) call me ASAP. I'm done talking to receptionists and peons.

I'm so sorry to hear that Kumar is still having trouble flying! That vet's office is just ridiculous. It must be a pretty bad sprain. I'm glad to hear he is at least managing to fly a little farther than before, though.

That's what I'm thinking. The vet said something about putting his wing in a figure 8 bandage. I'm thinking that will make things 1,000 times worse. He's able to extend it a little more, he doesn't hold it funny when it's folded. As long as he's not using it, hopefully it will heal. The "8" bandage would have just been to keep it immobile. It's not being used (the wing) anyway, so I'm not going to bring him back to house of horrors for yet another injury and mental trauma. But me and the owner of that clip-joint are going to have a conversation.

thanks for the update from you :) let us know what happens, I'll be interested in hearing what the vet says and what you say to him ;)

I am looking forward to hearing what happens as well. I can tell you that I do not envy that vet after you get through with him!

Yes indeed!! I hope you give him hell! It won't undo what happened to little Kumar but it will make them more careful with the next defenceless bird.

Hey Kalidasa. Any updates on Kumar?
