my Meyers parrot tweetybird was born 09/04/02. 8 years old. and has been through a few people. she is very shy, and bites very hard, she gets so scared when i even put my hands in the cage sometimes. she isnt a total loss of hope i have trained many parrots working at a parrot rescue center. tweety i just got about a week ago i know i should give her more time so i have stopped trying to get her out. also today im going to rearrange her cage and introduce her to a new toy. she is very cuddly previous owner told me and i even saw so i know shes got some love inthere for me. i need to know more about clicker training if that is the way to go. or putting a perch in her cage to get her out. or what. idk how i should approach a parrot that wont even come out of her cage with all doors open alll day.

Hi there again Missy.....
Go into Search..... type clicker training, scroll down to clicker training.
Fantastic post by Peta, on clicker training.
Good luck

If you've only had Tweety for a week, there is a good chance she just needs more time. I got my Meyers at the end of December. Alcatraz took several weeks to acclimate. Even then he was a bit of a perch potato. I see his personality coming out in new ways every week.
