A bit surprised....

At my recent vet visit, I had the last 3 of my flock DNA’d for gender. The results just came in and I’m shocked....I’ve had Tango since 2016 and was so certain that he was a boy.....NOPE! I had assumed correctly on 4/5. So I have 4 girls - and Stanley is the only boy in my crew.

Now I just have to break the habit of saying “good boy” to Tango

Jen, what method, from blood draw or plucked feather? Or is there another way?

Well imagine MY surprise when I found out Amy was also a boy twenty-five years later! I still call "him" Amy coz he knows that name and I still refer to him as "her" when I post doesn't really matter. All the fine folks here know what she is (there I go again) and don't razz me about it (Thanks friends!!)

We did blood draw - only requires a very small amount for DNA. And yes, poor Stanley is sadly outnumbered lol.

I’m glad I didn’t wait 25 years to do this like Jim....I’d have an even harder time breaking habits . It’s a good thing that the birds don’t care what gender pronouns we use!
