A COVID-19 Reality Check

I see everyone is posting, ‘Stay home, Stay safe’, posts! My turn! But from a different view!

I lost my daughter, Dawn, a few years ago! Yes, she had made some poor life choices that contributed to her death, but, as all of us, she thought she was indestructible, and would be given a pass once more! Her death was a result of uncontrollable ARDS! Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome! SHE WAS IN HER THIRTIES!

It is ARDS that is the death sentence in this pandemic! Yes, they have you on a ventilator, but as you drown, your organs begin to fail because of a lack of oxygen! Once your kidneys fail,Sepsis sets in! Unstopped, this is what nightmares are made of! Your body starts decaying while you are still alive! Gangrene sets in and you loose all your limbs! And it gets worse!

My point in reliving this? When she died, the country was not in a crisis mode! They were able to try everything possible to save her! With our current situation, they have to terminate care once it appears you are going down this path! WE DON’T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO HANDLE THIS!
You don’t want to die this way! You don’t want someone you love to die this way! Sure, you will pass in a morphine induced dream, but trust me, it is not peaceful!

EDIT: A truth! Under these circumstances, you will not be the one making the decision to remove life support! The doctors will!

Thank you for the reality check!
After a day of intubation your mouth starts overgrowth if yeast and bacteria, sores develop.
You also have a cathfir pee and poop, a central line threaded down to your heart...they keep you like this for weeks, many people will clean and touch your body every place.

This disease causes severe pneumonia in many people who don't have to get hospital help, but it still causes damage to their lungs, sometimes permanently....

The death toll is still trending higher than the 3.4% ( 3 and a half people out of a hundred die)
Yesterday Dr. Faucie said the deaths take awhile to catch up . Because people take weeks of sufferings to die.

My heart goes out to you David. I've been seeing on the tv that the "mellenials"
aren't heeding the stay home/distance thing thinking they are invincible.This is no joke! I see this virus thing lasting all summer honestly,and people dying needlessly

David, my deepest condolences for the loss of Dawn. Sadly, ARDS is the new reality and accelerates rapidly.

I am so sad at your story - it must be hard to bear. Today we learn (in the UK) that volunteers in our newly prepared 4000 bed temporary hospital in London have been told to prepare themselves to see death with 80% of those on ventilation not surviving. I have been isolated now for 4 weeks. I don't go outside at all. It's a very difficult time for everyone.

Basically Laura the Doc said he believes this thing won't peak until mid May..in the vid he talked about how the virus kills someone..pneumonia/fluid drowning you.

And, just a few hours ago, I saw that the drug to provide relief for ARDS has entered final testing, but has been released to provide help for those with this Monster Virus.
