Don't let it bother you too much Timothy, because we really are all members if the animal kingdom, you, me, even those nice, friendly members who guide us on our learning & journeys through the forums, our own Super Moderators, we are all animals, whether we like that classification or not.....
There have been a number of sites like ParrotShop to pop up in recent years.....they are basically Internet based infomercials, this one takes topics/subjects that may or may not have been published elsewhere & tries to give them a new audience in their particular site...even though this site is titled ParrotShop, if you read through the various topics offered, it's not really a parrot specific site and any parrot information it might impart is basic at best.....
Though ParrotShop presents Dr. Braitman as a veterinarian, she is an academic, holding a PHD in the history of science (history and anthropology conferred in 2013) from MIT, she is also an alumni of Cornell University in biology and writing.....her credentials show no degree of any veterinary medicine having been awarded to her, so I have trouble with sites like this that make subtle mistakes/errors that are flat out untruths, trying to show themselves as having some modicum of credibility "When we are honest with ourselves, we find that humans are not the only animals subject to emotional and mental distress. Veterinarian Dr. Laurel Braitman’s new book....."
Reading some of what's published on the internet often requires additional reading just to verify the credentials and thus, the validity of what has been erroneously presented as truthful and factual should be questioned if you have any reservations about something you read...enjoy your reading.....
