A sweet little birdie called Lovejoy 💖

I made that toy out of a bunch of bits and pieces on a metal skewer. But it’s easy enough to make, and they all love that ball that Lovejoy’s chewing, it’s stuffed with little bits of crinkly paper that they love throwing on the floor!!

Ok here’s the latest incarnation, with a cardboard poster tube zip-tied to the top so they can’t get a grip. In theory anyway!!

This is a really neat idea for parrots that you don’t want chewing on things. Luckily my parrots haven’t found the dry wall interesting.

It was a major feat of engineering, @kme3388, and one that I'm sure will need constant repair and rebuilding!

Autumn has sprung and the white-flowering eucalypts are blooming like crazy!! There are several BIG trees in next door's back yard and they overhang our fence but naturally they are SO tall we can't reach them, not even with a ladder! So we have to go a bit further afield to collect flowers, but at least our efforts don't go unappreciated 💖

I love your parrots stainless steel cages.

Lovejoy, and peachie are too cute. Hopefully their flowers didn’t end up on the floor, or wall.

I love their stainless steel cages too and I'd love to go for the bigger size but then the bar spacing is too wide for little birds. Actually two of them are by Featherland/Caitec and they are far too heavy for me to get outside the house by myself to pressure wash, whereas the one in the picture is a different brand and is a lighter grade of stainless that I can manage by myself without hubby's help. And you KNOW those flowers ended up on the floor, but they love 'em so it's worth it 💖

Lovejoy I just going to town on his flowers. :) Peachie, trying to be a stealthy ninja girl back there so we won't know she's stealing HIS stuff? 🤣

Lovejoy doesn't mind one bit sharing his flowers with his pretty Peachie princess, those two are madly in love after all!! ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥

Oh they are just so cute. I want to give them both scritches!!

Right?? And when they're together they're TWICE as stinkin' cute!!:love:

Lovejoy pic for tax - he was standing on his tippy toes cos he heard one of the local noisy miner birds outside yelling an alarm call. The louder he yelled, the taller Lovejoy stretched himself!!

He really is a gorgeous parrot. I hope he doesn’t fly as fast as my conures. He looks hard to catch 😂

He flies like a little green missile, but oddly enough he's the easiest one to catch cos he almost always steps up for me. He's such a good boy!!

Speaking of stainless steel cages...
Back in the last century, I prices stainless cages and they were, like, $800 bucks for a big parrot cage. Whoa, too much! Now, 40 years and 5 or so regular cages later (totaling thousands) MANNNNNN I wish I had invested back then!

Yeah they're nice cages, but I have to say the wheels are a pain, cos they have an annoying tendency to fall out when we take the cages outside for cleaning and we have to carry them over the grass. Have solved that by buying cheap nasty casters from the local hardware store, they weren't a perfect fit so I jammed some double-sided sticky tape in there and voilà, they don't fall out any more! Don't ask me why the same trick never worked on the original wheels but it just didn't, they kept falling out 🤷‍♀️

Welllllllllllllllllllllll, I guess none of us have parrots in order to save money or enhance daily convenience!
Oh and yeah and double-sided sticky tape, wrapped a few time around cage legs, eliminates crawling buggsz from invading the cages. Ah, the hacks of life with birds!

Double sided tape doesn't work with Brisbane ants, I've already tried that. They just send an advance team of "sacrificial" ants out who get stuck on the tape and the rest of them walk over the dead bodies of their buddies, 'specially when there's lorikeet food to be had!! The only thing I've found that keeps them out is canola oil sprayed on the cage legs, the little horrors can't get a grip and slide straight off 😝
