And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...as all of you know, I'm "new" to Cockatiels, the Beebs being my only real close encounter with one.

I have read that tiels can talk, moderately, are excellent in whistling ( I can vouch for that!) and that the guys are better than the gals in both respects.

BB was just a young lad when he came home forever with me,and really didn't have a "voice" yet. He did do some chirps and a whistle here and there.
It took maybe two weeks for him to get comfy enough to start whistling pretty good ( an expert now..I just love his enthusiasm lol) and right after that,he picked up the "wolf whistle" which he only does now when Uncle DJ is over and BB is on his shoulder, whistling right in his ear ..it took less than a week to learn that,I would do it four or five times in a row, every twenty minutes or so,as he sat on my should. I could tell he wanted to learn it,just by the way he'd stop whatever he was doing, like boxing my ear lobe, and just listen to me.
Maybe a month later came his first words.."what are you doing?"
Then came Andy Griffith..he mutilates it pretty good lol, doing it HIS way...but I get the jist of it.
Then more words,he learned them even faster. And within three days he was doing the "tock tock" thing with the Addams Family.

Soooooo...exactly a month from today,he will be here a whole year already. My oh my,how time flies  ( and BB!)

So here is a list of stuff he knows, either been taught by me,or just picked up coz he likes it.

Taught stuff...

Wolf whistle
Andy G/Addams Fam
What are you doing?
BB good boy??
Lit-tel boy,lit-tel boy

Stuff he learned on his own...

Hello
Hi BB
Beebers
NO AMY! ( I'm sure that one is from all the times I say it to Amy when she sneaks to his roof top!)
and he has combined "lit-tel boy lit-tel boy..BB good boy?"

I think that's pretty dang good for the 86 gram fluff boy :grey: :D

So...how about your tiels? And those of you who have gal tiels?

Sorry for braggin'...again:rolleyes: Did I ever say I love that lit-tel boy??;)

My female tiel does not mimic. I've had her since January and still hasn't grown into her adult self yet. She whistles and sings and growls but no words or wolf whistles. Maybe someday lol.

Beebs is definitely special... you are VERY lucky to have him. Not many tiels out there like him... all tiels are awesome in their own way of course... you know what I mean . :)

Rascal is a mute... and 'Nut does not talk at all... I tried and tried to teach 'Nut how to do this "peekaboo" thing because it's adorable but have been unsuccessful :( Check out this vid of a tiel saying peekaboo.... you have to watch entire video because he doesn't start to do it until further into the video. It sounds like a dog's chew toy that squeaks! LOL

You should totally try to teach Beebs this "peekaboo" act because I think he could learn it... check it out here!

PLEASE please post vids of Beebs doing his thing.. I would LOVE to see more of it! :D

OMG that peek-a-boo video is so great!!!!

Jim, BB is the only 'teil I have ever heard do more then a whistle, in person. Once parrots in general learn the first couple of words and make the connection between what their human is saying to what their human wants THEM to say, the going gets[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ppppppp easier and faster

LOL...I gotta teach BB the peekaboo! I'm SURE he could learn that! That was awesome lol.

Yes, PLEASE try it!... I would love to see Beebs do it. He's talented he should pick it up :D

Seems Beebs is the Alex (grey) of tiels!!

That's an awesome video, Juliet!

Peek-a-boo! Dusty loved that, and so does the Mumble birdy. Seems like one of the things they like to tune into =)

No doubt Beebs will be very in-tune to it!

Let's see... Both Sunny and Sky are about 9 months old now. They don't talk yet but do mimic sounds and tunes

Sky is a bit more of a chatterbox then sunny though. But so far they can..
- wolf whistle
- another short whistle I do
- still trying to learn the Adam's family but Sky will attempt to sing along with the video

I want to make a CD of tunes for them to learn because I have a list of things haha.

I don't know if they have trouble saying s words or what but my budgie was good at saying B words. I'm always saying "hello how you doin'?" And talking to them.
