A weekly photo contest?

I thought this would be a fun idea, having a weekly photo contest?
And we can all vote, and who ever gets the most votes wins?
I dunno just an idea and a bit of fun!

Okay here's goes

Admin have left the decision to us Mod's.

We have decided that members should be more involved "so to speak" within the forum.

You Brodie (the founder) choose one or two members to assist you running the weekly competition as well as choosing the winners.

Unfortunately there will be no prizes "sorry" unless we find a sponsor within the forum who would like to donate a prize.

I think that sounds great, but I think monthly or bi weekly would be better than weekly. Weekly will get repetitive and because it's always happening people may get bored after a while. Monthly(or bi weekly) will give more time to come up with good ideas and coordinate each contest better.

Plus a longer contest will give people more time to take photos and submit them.

Maybe members would be willing to donate items as prizes. I would be willing to purchase an extra toy with my MSBS order to be donated to the contest. It sounds like a fun idea, Thanks Brodie & Ant

I also agree that maybe monthly would give more people a chance to participate and donate stuff.

Decide who will "be in charge" who will assist, will it be weekly or monthly etc etc etc.

Us Mod's will not be involved, leaving it in your capable hands.

do you know of betta fish.com? they have a really good set up for their monthly photo contest. you submit the file to a specific part of the web site, then when it's time for voting all the photos are in a pol. Here is their site Betta Fish and Betta Fish Care

At the end of the voting period they make a thread showing the top votes to the lowest and the winning photo is on display for a month on the main page.

I think once a month would be better, give a chance to take pics with the theme in mind and give folks a chance to vote. I'd be willing to donate a prize a couple of times a year. And yes i think you should be able to enter pics, your not voting ,the members are.

i dont see why you cant enter, just make it a rule no one can vote for themselves. i think this would be a fun idea i would prefer once a month as well.

aquariumadvice.com does great POTM contents (photo of the month).

The rules are that no one can discuss the photos in the thread and you can only post one photo per month. Also if they win they get a badge by their username that says POTM winner.

I don't know if that's possible, but I feel like that would be a rewarding "prize"
