Is it just me, or do you other parronts find that, after time, the noise does not bother you at all? Penelope is a loud Quaker. She screams in the morning; she screams at night; she screams when she wants attention and when I come home, and whenever she feels like it. My neighbor has a Umbrella Cockatoo that screams constantly, and Gunter has his moments of loud chatter.

None of it phases me anymore. At all. I was in a pet store today, and people were cringing and glaring at the Hahn's Macaw and Mitred Conure sharing a play stand and screaming at the top of their lungs, and It hadn't even registered to me that they were being loud (also, they were OMGSUPERCUTE and I wanted to take them both home, but I digress). The staff were apologizing to everyone and I was just like "oh, look who's feeling their wheaties today." My friends constantly ask me how I put up with the noise, and I wonder what noise until they point at Penelope. Am I just getting deaf, or is this a parrot owner trait?

My wife and I are the same, we like the noise, so no matter the decible level, we don't notice how loud (or obnoxious) others may find it. My kids are not as appreciative as we are though :D

As far as new owers go I seem to have gotten lucky. Bob rarely makes noise and when he does it is not too terribly loud.

People who love and appreciate parrots usually do accept and tolerate parrot vocalizations better than the general public would. :)

I love Pi to bits but I miss Hannibal's constant chatter. He was always making SOME kind of noise. Pi is mostly silent unless she's screeching. The screeching doesn't bother me either though. I guess I tune it out.

hummm nut is a quiet bird, other then the few shrieks through the day for what ever reason :)

but for most parts, its like she's talking sport, i can hear her, but i'm thinking of shoes lol

Well, I ain't one of those folks. Tiki has a squawk that can make your hair stand straight up. I don't mind the chirps, cheeps, chattering, and even an occassional squeal. But that squawk is a tough one to tollerate. Tiki is not what I would call a quiet bird. But we are getting a little more used to her noises lately. We've had her now for about 5 months.

My yellow collared is very verbally expressive, especially when company is over. Then he decides he should be getting attention from our guests and starts hamming it up. It only bothers me when we have guests, otherwise I don't even notice! Our sun conure is only a screamer when he hears doors opening & closing. His jabbering is quiet. But yes, I think if you have owned a noisy bird, it starts to blend right in and becomes white noise!
