Juliette is home! (Lineolated Parakeet)

Juliette has decided that snuggling in my sleeve is the way to go. She'll stay in there while getting scritches for over an hour at a time. I hope this is okay since she hasn't gone through puberty. It's really hard to change her mind when she wants to burrow somewhere. Hopefully hormones aren't in play yet? She's never bit me in there unless she needs to poop. Chirping sleeves are super cute.

She's too young for puberty. Since shes not much bigger than a budgie It will start probably when she's about 9 months old and by 12 months she'll be mature. The Lineolated Parakeet Society website has some good information.

This morning Juliette bestowed a regurgitated pea upon her humble servant. She was quite cheerful, and did some ballet stretches and a tail fan as she observed her minion carefully wrapping the errant pea in a half used paper towel to preserve it for the sake of posterity. Is this normal in a 16 week old?

Juliette loves her swing. Poor birdie, I neglected to bring it back to her regular upstairs cage and when we went downstairs after a week she was so happy to have it back! I just can't get enough of this fluffy face!

Juliette got a pedicure today. She's never actually been mad at me before, but she sure was today! It was actually adorable. She gave me the dirtiest look she could muster, and hurried to the other side of the cage away from the scritching finger. "Minion, your scritching privileges are revoked." Thankfully it didn't last long and she's back preening under my chin.
I was so glad her carrier was buckled into the back seat belt on the way home (it has seat belt loops on it), because I got rear ended at a red light. Thankfully it wasn't very hard, but it would have been enough to send her carrier flying.

So sorry to hear about your accident, @GivemeSeedsorgivemeFlesh, I hope everyone's ok! 🙏

Glad you're both alright. It Is funny how those avian faces can show outrage. I avoid outrage after pedicures by bribery. Nameliss loves french or curly fries. They need to be done right by local fast food. A couple of fries and I am the center of her world. I know that they're bad for the both of us. But 3-4 fries every 3-6 months isn't unrealistic. At home it's oven or air fried potatoes. We both love sweet potato fries.

You and Juliette were lucky. How's the car feeling? My mother gave me her BMW convertible when she stopped driving but a year later I was rear ended by a much larger vehicle and the rear end of the BMW was destroyed. I wasn't injured but I can see how a bird would have been ever if the cage was strapped in.

Tater Tots are Rocky"s favorite after Popsicles. She also loves potato chips. I have a cell phone stand on the table and Rocky sits on my phone while I hold a chip for her to nibble on. I get the lightly salted ones but I know they are still not good so I only a few bites occasionally.

The jolt was rather startling but the actual damage to the car is barely visible. It's a little bent but I think it will come out. My neck is a little sore but Juliette seems fine.
Juliette's kryptonite is popcorn. But I don't know about PFOA free air poppers. I don't own one and would never need it for myself. I've just been giving her non salted/non buttered pieces stove popped in coconut oil. I gave her an entire piece the first time, then I saw how she demolished it and we switched to little bites. She will get into the bowl if you let her. :)

She is super sweet. This morning she let me know two hours early that she was awake and ready for breakfast. Then she found the corner of her cage that wasn't covered and proceeded to peek through it so I couldn't pretend not to see her...

As far as her name goes I was brainstorming and going through names from books at three AM. When it popped into my head it immediately seemed to fit her perfectly. So she has a first name from Shakespeare (except the spelling is different), a middle name from Harry Potter, and a last name from The Lord of the Rings.
lol at the peeking thru the cover! Soooo cute!!!

Very cute! I hope your new parrot is gonna be have a strong bond with you!:greenyellow:
