My little Bebe is gone. I am so sad.

Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry to hear about your lovebird! Usually by the time a lovebird (any bird really) shows symptoms enough that concern you, they are super sick already. If my guys even look off, I take them to my vet. Have you had your bird very long? Again, really sorry you have to suffer his death. My condolences.

Thank you, I started calling emergency vets as soon as I noticed things were not right. Being it is Sunday they all use the same service. When I called they said they were not bird specialists and there was not much they could do. That was 3:00, by 5:00 he was gone.

He was flying around and happy then suddenly shut down. I have no idea what happened.

Could it have been Teflon poisoning? I'm still so sorry. :'-(

He didn't show any symptoms. So I don't think so.

I am so sorry to hear of what happened to your lovebird. Even though you haven't had him long, I know how quickly these guys can find their way into your heart.

From the sounds of it, any number of things might've gone wrong. If it was indeed as sudden as it seemed, he might have ingested something toxic, or breathed in something dangerous (Such as overheated teflon).

It's also possible that he came to your home already sick. Birds are experts at hiding their illnesses, as in the wild showing weakness is usually tantamount to courting death.

Again, I am so very sorry for your loss.

"Acting strange" or "acting different" *IS* a symptom.

Sorry he didn't make it and passed on. :( If you want to attempt to find out what caused his death, you need to get a necropsy done, which could be anywhere from $15 to $300. State labs (Department of Agriculture) usually offer cheaper necropsies than vets do, but you would have to call around and check. This would, gruesomely, require you putting his body in your fridge (*NOT* freezer) until you can take him in for the necropsy.

Being that your lovebird was supposedly around 13 years old, it could have been any number of things.... such as liver or kidney failure, secondary infections due to a failing liver (infection that became septic), or environmental toxins.

If you can find out the cause of death, it may be helpful in case you are considering bringing another bird home.

I am so so sorry Gina :(
