Green Cheek Conures
Hi all! Our 3 month old Green Cheek Conures use to nibble both our fingers when we have them near the cage or when outside of the cage.

Now they seem to only nibble my partners and even Pumpkin who I seemed to be their favorite for a while has now increased their nip a little when they do nibble.

My partner does have a little length to their nails whereas I no longer have nail extensions, which never use to be an issue.

Have I dont something wrong or have our babies decided that Dad is the good parent and im the bad parent?

Unfortunately as I have anxiety I do overtime sometimes and this has me overthrowing even though I know I shouldn't in terms of the babies.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Birds have their own reasons for somethings. Some like longer nails, others like my CAG wants my nails short. You'll find some that object nail extensions, polish even objecting to certain colors. Tattoos, glasses, earrings, bracelets and more maybe accepted, ignored or qualify as destroy on sight. The same is true for their preferred human flock member. Keep interacting with your conures. You still have a babies. I'm not sure what you mean by nibbling and nipping. A playful nip can still hurt and break the skin. It should be discouraged.

My apologies, I'll clarify. Its definitely nibbling, not nipping ^_^ Thank you for the advice. I just really want to do right by these babies as I do consider them my children ^_^

A good exercise to promote even bonding to all family members is to play 'hot potato' with the birds daily with all people present. They may eventually settle on a favorite but this assures everyone can handle them.

I don't have conures, but I understand they're often nibbly/nippy li'l birds. Any of them might decide there's things they like or don't. My YNA is super bonded to me and lives for long head scratch/preening sessions. That said, if there's a bandaid on my hand, or worse yet, my finger, she won't come near me and will defend herself from the invading monster if I try to get close. I remove the bandaid and she'll run right back to me. Weirdo. 🙄🤣
