[Advice Needed] Experiences with microchipping Budgies and Cockatiels for EU relocation?

Hi fellow bird lovers,
I am currently planning to relocate to the EU and need to bring my flock with me. However, EU customs regulations strictly require my birds to be microchipped. My birds only have open leg rings (they didn't get seamless closed rings as hatchlings), so microchipping is the only accepted way to prove their identity.
My flock consists of one Budgerigar (Budgie) and two Cockatiels.
I am extremely worried about the medical risks of microchipping such small birds. I would deeply appreciate any advice or shared experiences from this community:
Has anyone here had their small parrots (specifically Budgies or Cockatiels) microchipped?
How dangerous was the procedure for them?
Have you noticed any long-term issues, such as the chip migrating to a different part of the body?

I know microchip is done to birds. My avian vet does it. It is done as an injection with a slightly larger needle. The main problem is stress to the bird especially if they aren't used to being handled. Otherwise no problem except the usual watching for infection post procedure. My bird is larger than yours. So there may be more to consider. I don't remember why I didn't do it. I suspect cost.
