This has nothing to do with expectations or discerning tastes. If the bird is going to spend time out of it's cage, Assuming the bird can fly. Then the bird will need to trained a few simple requests or 'commands'. If the bird is wing clipped then it probably will only need to 'step up and step down' training.
The requests or 'commands' are
'step up' Means, Please step up onto my finger / hand. This request is most important and that's why it's first.
'step down' Means, Please step down off my finger / hand onto another perch.
'stay' means, Please Do not come to me.
'come' means, Please come to me.
'Go' Means, Please Fly off me and go to your stand or cage.
'Off there' Means, Please leave this spot and fly to your stand or cage.
Once the bird is trained these requests or 'commands' you will have good control of your bird while out of the cage and will be easier to supervise.
There are many dangers in the home and it only takes a split second for the bird to land somewhere that is unsafe or unsuitable, just approach the bird and say 'Off there'.
Remember to praise the bird for their co-operation.

I do agree that the Parrot forum Link you posted would be a better resource than some poor home made video from YouTube.
