Hello,

My African Grey baby is suddenly keeping one eye closed.

I've looked at it and it doesn't seem swollen, there's no discharge on the eye, nose or mouth.

He will randomly open it for 20 secs then close it.

I've wiped the area very softly with a wet paper towel.

Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?

Thanks
Jason

When was the last time you had him to the vet and how long have you had him?

I'd get him to an avian vet because he would be due anyway.

Welcome to you and your young Grey!

As you probably know, your grey is at a very sensitive and potentially dangerous stage in his life so if you are at all concerned I would urge you to contact a certified avian vet ASAP, the following link may help you find one if you don't already have one...

I hope your grey will be OK and that you can get some professional help for him soon.

I experienced this with our black-capped conure. Could be a scratch to the eye or the start of a sinus infection. The vet prescribed an eye drop and an oral antibiotic. Did the trick.
Get to an avian vet post haste.
