Hello all,

Iā€™m new to this forum and donā€™t know I much about budgie.

I just wanted to check if anyone could tell me the age of my budgie. I got them just yesterday.

Also, whenever is it closer to them she start fluffing and and itching each other. Could someone please explain why.

I bought it from the breeder he said theyā€™re 3-4 weeks old. Iā€™m not sure if he told me the truth or not.
Thank you for your reply.

These are obviously VERY young, practicaly still babies. Quite possible that they are about 4 weeks old, they still have their forehead lines. After their first molt those lines on the forehead will dissapear.

What do you meant by your last paragraph? Why are they preening each other or sticking to each other when you come closer? They're parrots, they love being next to each other as they feel safe with the other's presence. And they "itch" or preen each other, they're cleaning each other's feathers to keep them clean.

Good luck with your new babies!

4 week old budgies aren't independent yet and have shorter tails, so probably it wasn't truth

Don't budgies ween off very very early compared to other parrots?

Yes, but when they are 6 weeks old. I was breeding budgies and Bourkes, they both become independent at age of about 6 weeks
