Airline travel carrier... please help.

Thanks for the tip. Winston will definitely hop about and I am sure he is going to be stressed. Are birds allowed to go through the walk through x-ray? The last time I travelled I went through the walk through thing where it beeps if they detect metal on you. And I also went through the actual x-ray scanner thing. As you can tell, I don't travel much!!!

I don’t know. I just told them she couldn’t, and they let me hand her over the X-ray machine in her carrier. Then they escorted me to a private screening room (they carried her) where I could safely take her out, and they took her carrier back and ran it through X-ray. It was pretty simple once they figured out the best way to do it. Well-except I’d decided to get my nails done for the holidays so she was scared of my hands [emoji23][emoji23] but otherwise, it was easy. So just tell them that’s how it needs to be done and they’ll probably go along with it.

Do not let an uninformed TSA inspector place Winston in an X-Ray machine!! https://www.tsa.gov/news/releases/2014/08/27/traveling-dogsand-cats-and-other-small-pets

This guidance is from 2014, and clearly prohibits X-Ray screening of animals brought aboard an aircraft. Unfortunately not all agents are uniformly aware of these finer points. If you have any questions, politely request a supervisor. There are alternate techniques to satisfy TSA's need to validate the safety of your bird and carrier.

Thank you both so much. I will do that. I suspect that we will go to a private screening area. He is going to be stressed so hoping he will be his good boy self. :) When he doesn't want to be handled he will "fly" away. Silly boy. I fly from FL to GA then GA to WA then WA to BC. I wonder how many checkpoints I will encounter if I am already at the gate? I know in WA I am doing the Port of Entry inspection.

Once you’re through security, you won’t have to go through again except maybe at SeaTac when you do your Port of Entry Inspection. [emoji16]

This makes me happy! Poor boy is going to be stressed enough. So excited to bring him to his new home. :)
