alexandrine
I recently got an Indian ring neck, supposedly. but she did come from a bad situation. Horribly cut wings, zero trust, bites a lot. She has gotten better, steps up now and sits on my shoulder, and takes treats from me now.

The more I research it, the more she looks like an alexandrine, gray blue, yellow eyes, narrow head, larger and longer tail, and a giant beak (just her beak is almost the size of my budgies head...), her tail is about an inch or two short of a foot. If any one has an idea on how to tell that would be great! Even on how to tell age as well. Also if anyone has any ideas on how to help build a bond with her, she does step up but wont let me pet or touch her. She does whistle, a whistle I do, at me and she does know her name, but wont talk as well.

The 1st pic shows her features but not how big or long she is. second pic is kinda fuzzy bc it was far away, when she is all comfy and fluffed up.

She sure looks like an Alex....is her bottom beak red or black? Red is an Alex. I have a male and he is a rescue. yes they are hard to get going when they come from a bad place.
I have an Alexandrine- He is cuddly and loves for me to scratch his head and neck- he even demands an afternoon nap on my chest where he can "lay down" and have a blankie over him while I rub his head and ears! He was not that way when I got him- He refused human touch at all. I was told he was severely abused physically by a man who had him. Right now his tail is almost 18 inches long and body is near 10 inches - Here is a few pics if that helps- BTW- he is a PLUCKER and came to me with a bad problem! Recently he is allowing his feathers to grow. BUT he now has a lot of human touch as well as about 30 toys. LOL I can't wait until his reddish feathers come in, the vet says may never happen, but I have my fingers crossed- GOOD LUCK with your baby!!!!!

That is an Indian ringneck, with a blue mutation. In multiple languages they are also known as "small alexandrines". Also in latin Psittacula crameri.

Alexandrines (big alexes) are Much larger. And i mean double the size. There are no known colour mutations in big alexandrines far as I am aware.

African ringnecks look just like indian ringnecks, except their beak is dark purple instead of red.

Ringnecks are usually very off hands bird and do not like being preened/touched, so it is very unlikely she will let you pet her. Instead of snuggling, try some clicker training or simply whistling back and forth, there are so many other ways how to interact with your parrot! :D

As for age, once they hit adulthood it is almost impossible to tell their age.
