Welcome! I'm sorry your bird is having problems with Bornavirus imfection. You're not alone.
There's a recent thread entitled "Introducing Yuri! Ona's new sister" started by one of our moderators, @onamom, that discusses her new bird's diagnosis with PDD, an illness caused by avian bornavirus. The thread discusses other things too but there's a link to an article from Angell Veterinary Hospital in Boston about PDD. I've copied the link to the article: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...sQFnoECGoQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1ckq74wKO99wu5x000qtO7

This is another interesting article I read:

Another article:

I have a feeling that Bornavirus infections cause a lot more illness and death in pet parrots than most people and vets are aware of. It can manifest in any different ways and unless the bird is tested for the virus it goes undiagnosed.
Apparently anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) are used for Bornavirus infections. If you aren't comfortable with your new vet you may want to seek another opinion. What part of the country/world do you live? Do you have access to high caliber avian vet care? Many people don't unless they live near a large city.
Again, I'm sorry you and your Amazon are going through this.
