So I though of another question... is it okay for Paprika to play with cotton swabs? They are pure cotton with paper based stick. She for whatever reason loves them. I have read it’s okay if she doesn’t eat the cotton, which she doesn’t. She usually shreds and pulls the cotton before she eventually drops it. We call it her brushing her beak.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I would not allow this with my parrots. The cotton fibers can wrap around tge tongue. Or end up in the crop

Seconded, thirded, and fourthded above.

Okay. Today will be last day that ever happens.

Yeah- agree with the above in terms of fibers. You might try plastic cocktail straws (you could cut them shorter). I know plastic can still cause issues, but cotton is much more sticky and fibrous.

I provide Meisha cotton swab sticks with the swabs cut off. The sticks are constructed with compressed rolled paper. She snips a section off to about .125" / 3.175 mm and unrolls it to a flat piece of paper. It's a fine version of entertaining make-work.
