I'm taking Nika to the vet today, thankfully they had a 5pm appt available. I've noticed that her poop sometimes has bubbles in it. Everything else seems to be normal, but the bubbles freak me out a little (a lot). So off we go. The upside is we'll be home after bedtime, so she'll most likely not give me too many problems going to sleep...I'm sure she'll be relieved to be home haha :D I don't work Mondays so this works out perfectly.

Let us know how it goes! Bubbles can really either be something or nothing. So I imagine they'll want a faecal sample.

Good luck!

let us know what happens! I'll be interested in knowing what causes it

Thanks I will, we leave in about an hour. I read a lot of different things about it, and in many cases they could find nothing wrong so assumed it was nothing. But I have to rule out illness, so we're going for the works. :(

Ok, we're back and she's asleep. The first thing we did when we got in there is remove her band, which the vet did by lubricating her leg and working it off. It took a while, and Nika was furious. Then while still toweled they did a blood draw and gram stain. The gram stain came back perfect (whew). It'll be a few days in the bloodwork, which is a complete blood panel and liver profile. She was limping a bit after from the blood draw, but she's ok. Mind you, this is a different vet clinic from the first one I took her to, this vet deals almost exclusively with exotics and birds. They had tons of Harrison's, toys & accessories. Her last vet was an avian vet but I don't think the clinic saw many birds....mostly dogs with one avian vet on call. I also bought a bag if Harrison's power treats. :)

that sounds good, do you think you will get the results by the end of the week?

Yup they said a few days, they have to send them out. I'll post as soon as I hear something. :)

Just got the results via phone, her labs are (in their words) perfect. I couldn't be more relieved. Told them to mail me a copy.

whew, but what was causing the bubbles??

It's never been foamy or very bubbly, which is often bad. It was most likely just the distance of the splatter (lol) makes a bubble in a poop with a lot of urine in it. Anyway, all her tests (gram included) came out well, and I'm so, so glad they got her band off which really bothered me. That was probably the scariest part, the way they had to bend a toe and all that, but it worked out well because to cut it off would have been far riskier.

My quaker parrot has poop with bubbles in it quite frequently as well. I read that it is just their way of passing gas. I've been really freaking out too, but he only does it every once and a while.
