All of my reptiles are in one room in secure cages, my question is: will it upset the bird if i put its cage in the same room or upset the snakes? (and or what do they do if you smell like reptile?)

I don't think it will. I have a skink in the same room and neither really seem to notice each other.
As far as birds smelling reptiles I don't think birds have a really good sense of smell... Plus captive ones wouldn't know what they smell like anyways 😊
As long as your snakes can't get out and eat your bird (depending on size) you should be safe.
On another note I would suggest keeping your bird in the living room or dining room, somewhere with a lot of foot traffic where the bird can be a part of daily activities. Reptiles aren't very social creatures and generally are content to be alone but birds get lonesome 🙃

Yeah it was more for a sleeping cage type arrangement, I'm also moving my crafting slave into my animal room so was curious:) i have a blue tongue skink as a well as a lot of snakes and a leopard gecko plus a t.

I have 2 Crested Geckos in separate tanks in the same room with my birds. No problems. I would not keep snakes with birds just added stress on the snake and birds. The snake might be stressed knowing a bird is near and it can not get it. The bird might be on edge knowing a predator is near. Our little birds are pray we need to keep them feeling safe.. Small lizards are fine. My birds don't know my Geckos are even alive.

I would keep the reptiles in a room of their own and the birds should live in the main living room with people. My avian Vet was not happy to know my Geckos were in the same room as the birds because bacteria. I never touch my birds if I have not washed my hands.

Only 2 of my snakes atm are big enough to eat a bird and they are both quite secure :) one is also big enough to pose a danger to cats so the whole room is animal proofed and my red tail has a custom cage he can't get out of.

Oh well in that case it should be fine. Reptiles are usually pretty chill and probably won't even notice that he's there 😊
I have a Berber skink but he is usually buried in the sand

Yeah more curious how the snakes (predators) act around bird scent, pretty sure a crested would be more scared of the bird or not care ;)

I'm not going to harm any animal so please don't input if its going to be opinions about suitability of snakes with birds as its a non issue unless scent causes stress. Thanks ;)

It's possible that your snakes would consider your bird edible from inside their cage but as long as he is only in there at night I can't foresee it being stressful for them. Just as stressful as your cat walking by I guess 😁
I could be wrong though, I'm no expert of course!

I know with people who keep pet rats in their snake room, but it stresses out the snakes and the rat(s) for quite a while unto they get over the constant scent of food/predator. Its interesting that birds don't smell well, that explains a lot about the the gcc i lived with :)

Yeah they really don't notice smells at all. They can hear super well though and my bird can hear across the house when i unlock the bathroom door to come back and starts screaming for me 😂

That's funny :) I'm trying to ask all the wierd questions i can think of before i get the bird as to prevent undue stress, that's not what i like to do to my beloved animal buddies :) the main cage will definitely be in our living room I'm just thinking of places i can have sleeping cages in case the bird is noisy at night as my man has a very high stress job and has to get good sleep.

Oh if that's all you're concerned about I wouldn't worry! My birds are silent from the moment I put their cover on until I take it off in the morning. They sleep very well at night!
That is just my experience so it might vary but from what I understand unless your bird has night terrors he or she should sleep very soundly. Just coordinate he sleep schedule to match when your husband sleeps.

Snowflake is your avian vet also a reptile vet? I've found even vets can be disgustingly ignorant about the truths of reptile ownership...

I have a neighbor who's a real snake, does that count?

I have about 50 snakes including retics in the same room as the birds. You'll be fine as long as you don't let the snakes climb over to the birds.

I have my Senegal's cage right next to my bearded dragon's Exo Terra in my kitchen/dining room area, and neither of them even notice each other. I have heard of bearded dragons being upset about being able to see a larger reptile, like an iguana that was across the room. In this case the person blocked the beardie's view of the Iguana using a room dividing screen.

I don't think you'll have a problem, just make sure that if either the snake or the bird(s) do have an issue that you move the snake, as this could potentially cause serious behavioural issues.

Yeah I thought it was weird that she got so scared to find out my Geckos were in the same room as the birds. She was saying reptiles have more bacteria that can be dangerous to birds. I don't know if she sees reptiles Parrots are her first love.

Reptiles are actually usually pretty clean, there is a false hysteria about salmonella but zoonotic diseases between reptiles and birds are likely to be rare. From my research and the experience of friends who keep birds, we ourselves are much more likely to transmit a fatal bacteria to our birds.
