I found a female Dusky head conure in need of a home. I have done research on these guys for months they seem (on paper) like a great conure. The person rehoming the bird is calling it a Grey cheek conure. In the photo I was sent the cage looked like a mess and no toys or branches. It seems like it might be neglected. The reason for rehoming " I don't have time for her." Such a lame reason to rehome a parrot.

If anyone knows a Dusky head conure or owns one or rescued one. I would love to hear from owners how these birds can be.

Good for you!
Duskies deserve their good reputation in my limited experience. I knew one years ago out West, and it was absolutely sweet, clever, funny and pretty darn quiet (for a conure). It was about ten years old (so sexually mature) and was still delightful.... a female, I THINK (laid eggs).
Thanks for rescuing the little darling.

I've been around 2, and they were great. One of them was a little nippy, but she wasn't trying to hurt anyone and she didn't hurt anyone but she would just like softly chew on your finger if that makes any sense. And then the other one was a little skittish but once you got him on you, he instantly wanted to cuddle and he didn't want to be put down. Overall they were so sweet. Also I've done some research myself, and I would love to have one someday.

Well my husband shot me down. I will have to wait for the right time to get a second. The dusky is number 2 on my list with the Pionus being number one. I still would like to hear from others about experiences they have had with Duskys.

I will be getting a chameleon instead and maybe a bunch of Chinchillas to re-home. I know weird. The family member that I had post about helping with the parrots had other animals. I love all animals what can I say. The Chameleon will be here this week.
