Mine is a pretty good talker for a conure. She isn't always clear though. Sometimes she mutters in this little scratchy voice that is hard to understand. She can tell me several sentences in that voice and I hear only like 4 words of it. When she make the effort she can speak very clearly though.
Her first word was hello. She also says on a regular basis: hi, hey or hey hey (her contact call, but she says it other times, too), kiss, gimme, be right back? (when I'm leaving), you're a good girl I love you (sometimes she says it separately but usually together as one long sentence) oh Rowdy you're such a pretty girl, goodnight, what, what's up
She has said quite a few long sentences that were completely correct and appropriate to the moment as well only to never say them again. I know she has a huge vocabulary as far as understanding even if she doesn't say all these things every day. Because of that I think you should talk to and explain what you're doing to your birds throughout the day. They are capable of understanding words and phrases over time even if they don't say them to you. Rowdy has certainly given me glimmers into bird intelligence I may not have realized otherwise. I always knew they were smart, but now I know they are probably smarter than I had originally given them credit for.
