Hi, does anyone know what behaviour is this? It’s my first time owning a caique… I’ve never seen any of my other birds do that, is he choking on something? There’s a behaviour where his head going up and down, and the second one, like he is choking.

HELPPPP! Should I be worry? It’s a mirror in front of him btw and he’s about 5 months old.

I wouldn't worry about it. He's regurgitating. If that's a mirror he's looking at, he's trying to feed the "other bird". It's a common behavior. My ekkie tries to do it for me/on me once in a while. I try to discourage it cuz it's kinda gross, but it's hard because it's just him trying to take care of me.

Are you sure? So I don’t have to be worry? He’s still a baby tho and he eats sooo much, his crop is always so full smh

I’m just so worried, I had another 2 caiques before this and they died suddenly

Baby birds eat a lot when they are still growing- so much more than adults. Their crops are much larger than adults and the food in their crops adds quite a bit of weight to them. Once the fledge and start eating on their own their crop shrinks, they lose weight and become more streamlined to allow them to fly.

If your baby is still being fed formula his crop will still be big. I don't know how old your caique is and whether he's still hand feeding. If you're concerned you should take him to an avian vet for a check up.

Normal behavior , be at ease.

hI @Clairesi looked you video snippets and:

(late answer, but ...)
he is not regurgitating food.
He is looking into a mirror - by the way it should be better to give him a real companion instead of a frustrating mirror -
and just tries to find the other bird by first looking repeatedly above the mirror and than going beside it as above he cant find him.
As this looking above the mirror for teh other bird looks a littel repeation-automated i would assume he has the mirror with the unreal companion not the first time so the behaviour is on the way to an automated behavior like a tic.
I would remove the mirror and instead do real play with him or get him a real partner.
Tell him tricks or the like, so he has something to do for his brain.
